1. FC Union Berlin have signed midfielder Janik Haberer from SC Freiburg on a four-year contract until 2026, the Bundesliga club announced on Wednesday.
The 29-year-old, who has been capped twice by Germany, has made 15 appearances in all competitions for Freiburg this season, scoring two goals.
Haberer: "I am very happy to be here"
Haberer said he was "very happy" to be joining Union Berlin.
"I have always followed the club closely and I am very impressed with what they have achieved in recent years," he said.
"I am convinced that I can help the team to continue to be successful and I am looking forward to playing in front of the fans at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei."
Union Berlin sporting director Ruhnert: "Haberer is a great addition"
Union Berlin sporting director Oliver Ruhnert said Haberer was a "great addition" to the squad.
"He is a very experienced player who has played at the highest level," said Ruhnert.
"He is a versatile midfielder who can play in a number of positions and he will bring a lot of quality to our team."
Haberer is Union Berlin's second signing of the January transfer window, following the arrival of defender Josip Juranovic from Celtic.
