A 36-year-old woman died after falling 60 meters while hiking in the Austrian Alps on Monday, police said.
The woman, who was from Germany, was hiking with a friend when she slipped on wet ground and fell.
The woman's friend called for help, and a helicopter rescue team was dispatched to the scene.
The woman's body was recovered from a ravine, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman's death is the latest in a series of fatal accidents in the Austrian Alps this year.
In July, a 25-year-old man died after falling from a cliff while hiking in the Dachstein Mountains.
In June, a 52-year-old woman died after falling from a glacier in the Ă–tztal Alps.
The Austrian Alpine Club has warned hikers to be aware of the dangers of hiking in the mountains, especially in wet weather.
Hikers are advised to stay on marked trails, wear appropriate clothing and footwear, and carry a map and compass.
