Bartra, the 'survivor' of the only win against Cholo
Atlético de Madrid coach Diego Pablo Simeone, who has been in charge of the team for more than a decade, has only lost once in eight games against Real Betis
Real Betis is one of the few teams that can boast of having managed to beat Diego Pablo Simeone's Atlético de Madrid since he took over the reins of the team in December 2011. The verdiblancos did so on the last day of the 2018-19 season, in a match that ended 1-0 thanks to a goal from Loren Morón in the 82nd minute.
Bartra, the only survivor
Of the eleven players who started that game for Real Betis, only one remains in the squad today: Marc Bartra. The Catalan center-back, who arrived in Seville in the summer of 2018, has become a key player for Manuel Pellegrini and is one of the captains of the team.
Bartra played the entire match against Atlético de Madrid and was one of the outstanding players of the match. The center-back was very solid in defense and also contributed to the attack, especially in the second half when Real Betis pushed for the winning goal.
The victory against Atlético de Madrid was a very important one for Real Betis, as it allowed them to finish the season in tenth place and qualify for the UEFA Europa League. It was also a special victory for Bartra, who had just arrived at the club and was already making history.
