Bayern Munich star Thomas Müller SLAMS German FA for 'unfair' decision to fine Serge Gnabry
Müller was critical of the DFB’s decision to punish Gnabry for attending a fashion show during the international break.
“It’s not fair that Serge has been fined,” Müller told reporters. “He didn’t do anything wrong.”
Serge Gnabry has been fined €80,000 by the German Football Association (DFB) for attending a fashion show during the international break.
The Bayern Munich star was pictured at the event in Paris on March 23, just days after Germany’s 1-1 draw with the Netherlands.
The DFB said in a statement that Gnabry had violated the team’s code of conduct by attending the event without permission.
“The DFB has decided to fine Serge Gnabry €80,000 for violating the team’s code of conduct,” the statement read.
“Gnabry attended a fashion show in Paris on March 23 without permission from the team.”
“The DFB has made it clear to all players that they must adhere to the team’s code of conduct at all times.”
Gnabry has since apologized for his actions and said that he understands the DFB’s decision.
“I apologize for my actions,” Gnabry said in a statement.
“I understand that I violated the team’s code of conduct and I accept the DFB’s decision.”
“I will learn from this experience and I will not make the same mistake again.”
Bayern Munich have also said that they support the DFB’s decision to fine Gnabry.
“We support the DFB’s decision to fine Serge Gnabry,” Bayern Munich said in a statement.
“We have made it clear to all our players that they must adhere to the team’s code of conduct at all times.”
“We will continue to work with Serge to help him understand his responsibilities as a Bayern Munich player.”
