Bayern Thump Bochum To Retake Top Spot
Bavarian Giants Move Three Points Clear At The Summit Following 3-0 Win
Goals From Musiala, Mane And Gnabry Seal Comfortable Victory
Bayern Munich resumed their position at the summit of the Bundesliga standings with a routine 3-0 victory over fellow Bavarians VfL Bochum on Saturday afternoon.
Jamal Musiala opened the scoring for the reigning champions just before the half hour mark, with Sadio Mane adding the second goal midway through the second half.
Serge Gnabry wrapped up the scoring in stoppage time as Bayern extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to 17 matches, moving three points clear at the top of the table.
Musiala Continues Impressive Form
Jamal Musiala has been one of Bayern's standout performers this season, and he continued his impressive form with the opening goal against Bochum.
The 19-year-old midfielder latched onto a pass from Thomas Muller and drove into the penalty area before firing a low shot into the bottom corner.
It was Musiala's seventh goal in all competitions this season, and he is now Bayern's joint-top scorer alongside Mane.
Mane Adds Second
Sadio Mane doubled Bayern's lead in the 64th minute with a clinical finish from close range.
The Senegalese forward was on hand to tap home after Leroy Sane's shot had been parried by Bochum goalkeeper Manuel Riemann.
It was Mane's fourth goal in his last five appearances for Bayern, and he is quickly becoming a key player for the German champions.
Gnabry Seals Victory
Serge Gnabry added a third goal for Bayern in stoppage time to seal a comfortable victory.
The German winger was played through on goal by Leon Goretzka and he made no mistake, slotting the ball past Riemann.
It was Gnabry's first goal since October, and it was a timely reminder of his quality.
Bayern Back On Top
Bayern's victory over Bochum sees them move three points clear at the top of the Bundesliga table.
Union Berlin are now their closest challengers, but Bayern will be confident of extending their lead in the coming weeks.
The Bavarian giants have a number of key players returning from injury, and they will be looking to maintain their momentum in the second half of the season.
