Bears' Braxton Jones Questionable to Return
Chicago, IL
Chicago Bears starting left tackle Braxton Jones is questionable to return with a calf injury suffered in Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions.
Jones, a rookie out of Southern Utah, has started all 16 games for the Bears this season and has been one of the team's most consistent performers. He has allowed just two sacks all season, according to Pro Football Focus.
If Jones is unable to play, the Bears will likely turn to Teven Jenkins, a second-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, to start at left tackle.
Jenkins has started six games this season, including the first four games of the season when Jones was out with an ankle injury.
The Bears are already without starting right tackle Larry Borom, who is on injured reserve with a concussion.
If both Jones and Borom are unable to play, the Bears could be forced to start two backup tackles against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
The Eagles have one of the best pass rushes in the NFL, led by Fletcher Cox, Brandon Graham, and Josh Sweat.
The Bears will need to be able to protect quarterback Justin Fields if they want to have a chance to win on Sunday.
Fields has been sacked 38 times this season, which is the most in the NFL.
The Bears are 3-13 this season and have been eliminated from playoff contention.
They will finish the season with games against the Eagles, Bills, and Vikings.
