SV Waldhof Mannheim snatches a point against Wehen Wiesbaden
Boyd's late goal earns Waldhof a share of the spoils
SV Waldhof Mannheim came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw against Wehen Wiesbaden in the 3. Liga on Saturday.
The visitors took the lead through Johannes Wurtz in the 35th minute, but Waldhof leveled through Andrew Boyd in the 89th minute.
The result leaves Waldhof in 14th place in the table, while Wehen Wiesbaden are 11th.
Waldhof make a strong start
Waldhof started the game brightly and had the first chance in the fourth minute when Marc Schnatterer fired over from inside the box.
The hosts continued to press and had another good chance in the 15th minute when Boyd shot wide from a good position.
Wehen Wiesbaden take the lead
However, it was Wehen Wiesbaden who took the lead against the run of play in the 35th minute.
Wurtz met a cross from Benedict Hollerbach and headed home from close range.
Waldhof push for an equalizer
Waldhof came out strongly in the second half and pushed for an equalizer.
They had a number of chances, but they were unable to find a way past Wehen Wiesbaden goalkeeper Tim Boss.
Boyd equalizes late on
In the 89th minute, Waldhof finally got their equalizer.
Tobias Knost crossed for Boyd, who headed home from close range.
Waldhof hold on for a point
Waldhof held on for the draw in the closing stages and earned a valuable point.
The result leaves them in 14th place in the table, four points above the relegation zone.
