David Gray Eyes Edinburgh Derby Victory to Ignite Hibernian's Season
Hibernian manager David Gray is targeting a derby day victory over Hearts to kick-start their season.
The Easter Road side have endured a difficult start to the campaign, winning just two of their opening six matches.
But Gray is confident that a win over their city rivals would provide the perfect platform to build on.
Gray said: "A derby win would be massive for us. It would give us a huge lift and kick-start our season."
Hibernian have not beaten Hearts in the league since 2019, but Gray is convinced that his team can end that run on Saturday.
He said: "We know it's going to be a difficult game, but we're confident that we can get a result."
Hearts are also in need of a victory after losing their last two matches.
But Gray is wary of the threat that they pose.
He said: "Hearts are a good team and they'll be looking to bounce back from their recent defeats. We'll need to be at our best to get a result."
The Edinburgh derby is always a fiercely contested affair, and Gray is expecting a passionate atmosphere on Saturday.
He said: "It's going to be an electric atmosphere. The fans will be right behind us, and we'll be looking to give them something to cheer about."
Victory for Hibernian would be a major boost for Gray's side, and it would also give them a much-needed confidence boost ahead of a tough run of fixtures.
But the manager is refusing to look beyond Saturday's match.
He said: "We're just focused on the Hearts game. We know it's going to be a difficult match, but we're confident that we can get a result."
