A 21-year-old German student has been reported missing in Japan. The student, identified as Maximilian Obermayer, was last seen on Sunday, April 24, 2023, in the city of Takayama, Gifu Prefecture.

Obermayer was studying Japanese language and culture at Takayama College. He had been living in Japan for about six months.

According to Obermayer's mother, he sent her several pictures of himself on Sunday evening. He was wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, and a baseball cap. He was also carrying a backpack.

Police are investigating Obermayer's disappearance. They are asking for the public's help in locating him.
