Marshall in line for England debut against France

Wigan centre Liam Marshall will have to wait for his England debut after being named in Shaun Wane’s matchday squad for Saturday’s clash with Samoa in Newcastle.

The 26-year-old has been in impressive form for the Warriors this season, scoring seven tries in 16 appearances.

However, he will have to be content with a place on the bench this weekend, with Wane opting for a more experienced backline.

George Williams has been recalled to the starting line-up at half-back, while Kallum Watkins and Jack Welsby are named in the centres.

England and Samoa eye World Cup revenge mission

Both teams will be keen to make a statement ahead of the 2025 World Cup, which will be held in France.
