Bayern Munich put five past Viktoria Plzen as Inter Milan also win; Liverpool reach last 16
Bayern Munich continued their impressive start to the Champions League campaign with an emphatic 5-0 win over Viktoria Plzen on Tuesday, while Inter Milan also secured a victory.
Liverpool reached the last 16 of the competition with a 2-0 win over Rangers, while Club Brugge secured a famous victory over Atletico Madrid.
Bayern in command
Bayern were in control from the start against Plzen, and they took the lead in the 10th minute through Sadio Mane.
The German champions doubled their advantage just four minutes later, with Leon Goretzka tapping home.
Bayern continued to dominate, and they added a third goal in the 25th minute, with Serge Gnabry finishing off a fine move.
The hosts made it 4-0 in the 35th minute, with Mane scoring his second of the game.
Bayern added a fifth goal in the second half, with Leroy Sane completing the rout.
Inter Milan win
Inter Milan also secured a victory on Tuesday, beating Viktoria Plzen 2-0.
Hakan Calhanoglu gave Inter the lead in the 25th minute, and Edin Dzeko added a second in the 82nd minute.
The win moves Inter up to second place in Group C, behind Bayern Munich.
Liverpool reach last 16
Liverpool reached the last 16 of the Champions League with a 2-0 win over Rangers on Tuesday.
Trent Alexander-Arnold gave Liverpool the lead in the 7th minute, and Mohamed Salah added a second in the 53rd minute.
The win moves Liverpool up to second place in Group A, behind Napoli.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was pleased with his team's performance.
"We played a really good game, we were very dominant," he said.
"We created a lot of chances and we could have scored more goals.
"But I'm happy with the performance and the result."
Club Brugge shock Atletico Madrid
Club Brugge secured a famous victory over Atletico Madrid on Tuesday, winning 2-0.
Kamal Sowah gave Club Brugge the lead in the 36th minute, and Ferran Jutgla added a second in the 62nd minute.
The win moves Club Brugge up to second place in Group B, behind Porto.
Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone was disappointed with his team's performance.
"We didn't play well," he said.
"We didn't create enough chances and we made too many mistakes.
"We need to improve if we want to qualify for the knockout stages."
