Colin Farrell ran a marathon in Dublin for his sick friend.
Colin Farrell ran a marathon in Dublin on Sunday to raise money for his sick friend.
The Irish actor ran the 26.2-mile race in just over four hours, despite having never run a marathon before.
Farrell's friend, Stephen Byrne, was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer last year. Byrne is currently receiving treatment at St. Vincent's Hospital in Dublin.
Farrell said he was inspired to run the marathon after seeing how Byrne had been coping with his illness.
"Stephen is an inspiration to me," Farrell said. "He's never given up, even when things have been tough. I wanted to do something to help him, and running the marathon was a way to do that."
Farrell raised over €100,000 for St. Vincent's Hospital during the marathon. The money will be used to help Byrne and other cancer patients receive treatment.
Farrell's marathon run was a success, and he is now encouraging others to get involved in fundraising for cancer research.
"I know I can't cure cancer," Farrell said. "But I can help raise money for research, and I can help raise awareness of the disease. I hope that by doing this, I can make a difference in the lives of cancer patients."
Farrell's story is an inspiration to us all. It shows us that anything is possible if we set our minds to it. We can all make a difference in the world, no matter how big or small.
