Ian Wright has urged Patrick Vieira to switch to a back three at Crystal Palace in order to save his job.

The Eagles have endured a poor start to the season, winning just two of their opening eight Premier League games.

Wright believes that a change of formation could help Palace to improve their defensive record.

The former England international told Premier League Productions:

I think they need to go to three at the back. They're shipping too many goals. They've got good players in there, but they're just not set up properly.

Palace have conceded 17 goals in their eight league games this season, which is the joint-worst record in the Premier League.

Wright is not the only one who believes that Palace need to change their formation.

Former Palace defender Damien Delaney has also called for Vieira to switch to a back three.

Delaney told talkSPORT:

I think they need to go to a back three. They've got the players to do it. They've got Marc Guehi, Joachim Andersen and Chris Richards.

It remains to be seen whether Vieira will listen to the advice of Wright and Delaney.

The Frenchman has been reluctant to change his formation since taking over at Palace last summer.

However, with the Eagles struggling at the bottom of the table, Vieira may be forced to make a change.
