DFB keeper Baumann rescues Hoffenheim a point in duel of Europacup-class
Heidenheim – A last-minute penalty saved by Oliver Baumann has earned 1899 Hoffenheim a 1-1 draw at Heidenheim in the Bundesliga 2 on Friday.
The visitors took the lead through Andrej Kramaric in the 23rd minute, but Heidenheim equalized thanks to a penalty by Tim Kleindienst in the 78th minute.
Hoffenheim pressed for a winner and were awarded a penalty in the 90th minute after David Otto was fouled in the area. Baumann saved Kleindienst's spot-kick to secure a point for his team.
The result leaves Hoffenheim in fourth place in the Bundesliga 2, while Heidenheim is in fifth place.
Both teams are now level on points, with Hoffenheim ahead on goal difference.
Hoffenheim will be back in action on Tuesday when they host Hannover 96, while Heidenheim will travel to Karlsruher SC on the same day.
