Melania Trump's Mother's Depositions Released in Prince Harry's Case
Prince Harry's ongoing legal battle with Mail on Sunday reached a new stage on Monday when several unredacted witness statements were made public.
In the witness statements, Melania Trump's mother, Amalija Knavs, recollected a conversation she had with Prince Harry in 2015.
The statements, which were filed in support of Prince Harry's claim for misuse of private information, have revealed further details about the phone call between Harry and Amalija.
In the documents, Amalija said she was "very surprised" when Harry called her in December 2015. She said that they had never spoken before, and that the call was unexpected.
Amalija said that Harry told her that he had met her daughter Melania in New York in 2005 and that they had been in contact since then.
She said that Harry told her that he was planning to propose to Melania and that he wanted to ask her for her blessing. She said that she gave her blessing, and that she was "very happy" for the couple.
The documents also show that Amalija was asked about her relationship with Melania's father, Viktor Knavs. She said that she and Viktor had been divorced for many years, but that they remained on good terms.
Amalija was also asked about her daughter's relationship with Donald Trump. She said that she and her daughter had a "very close" relationship, but that she did not know much about Donald Trump.
The documents released on Monday also include witness statements from other individuals, including Melania's former assistant, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, and her former bodyguard, Keith Schiller.
The trial is set to begin on October 2nd. Prince Harry is seeking damages for misuse of private information, copyright infringement, and harassment.
