Mohamed Salah's Late Equalizer Earns Liverpool a 2-2 Draw Against Arsenal
Salah's Goal Kept Liverpool's Unbeaten Run Alive
Mohamed Salah scored a late equalizer to earn Liverpool a 2-2 draw against Arsenal in a thrilling Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. The Egyptian's goal came in the 83rd minute, just minutes after Arsenal had taken the lead through Bukayo Saka.
The result leaves Liverpool unbeaten in their last 11 Premier League games and moved them up to second place in the table, one point ahead of defending champions Manchester City.
Arsenal Took an Early Lead
Arsenal took the lead in the 57th minute through Gabriel Martinelli, who finished off a fine team move. Martinelli's goal was his first in the Premier League since May 2022.
Liverpool equalized just seven minutes later through Darwin Nunez, who headed home Andy Robertson's cross.
Arsenal regained the lead in the 76th minute through Saka, who curled a fine effort into the top corner.
Salah's Late Equalizer
However, Liverpool refused to give up and were rewarded for their persistence when Salah fired home a low drive from the edge of the area in the 83rd minute.
The result was a fair one on the balance of play, with both teams having chances to win the game.
Klopp Hailed Salah's Impact
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp hailed Salah's impact after the game.
"He's a world-class player," Klopp said. "He's always there when we need him most."
Salah's goal was his eighth in the Premier League this season, and he is now just one goal behind Erling Haaland in the race for the Golden Boot.
Arteta Disappointed But Proud
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was disappointed with the result but proud of his team's performance.
"We were the better team for most of the game," Arteta said. "But we made a couple of mistakes that cost us dearly."
Despite the draw, Arsenal remain top of the Premier League table, one point ahead of Manchester City.
