NRW town voted "Most Beautiful Small Town in Germany"

Arnsberg takes the crown in a nationwide competition

The town of Arnsberg in North Rhine-Westphalia has been crowned "Germany's Most Beautiful Small Town" in a nationwide competition.

The town, with a population of around 75,000, impressed the jury with its picturesque old town, its historic castle, and its scenic location in the Sauerland region.

Arnsberg was one of five finalists in the competition, which was organized by the German Tourism Association (DTV) and the German Association of Towns and Municipalities (DSTGB).

The other finalists were: Bad Mergentheim in Baden-Württemberg, Hann. Münden in Lower Saxony, Schiltach in Baden-Württemberg, and Wernigerode in Saxony-Anhalt.

The jury praised Arnsberg for its "unique charm" and its "successful combination of tradition and modernity."

The mayor of Arnsberg, Ralf Paul Bittner, said he was "delighted" with the award.

"This is a great honor for our town and a recognition of the hard work of our citizens," he said.

Arnsberg will now represent Germany in the international competition for the "Most Beautiful Small Town in Europe," which will be held in 2024.
