Green Bay Packers Cut Kicker Anders Carlson After Costly Playoff Miss

Carlson missed a critical field goal in the NFC Divisional Round

Missed field goal proves too costly for young kicker

The Green Bay Packers have released kicker Anders Carlson, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Carlson missed a key 41-yard field goal attempt in the NFC Divisional Round loss to the San Francisco 49ers, which would have tied the game with just over two minutes remaining.

Carlson had a rough end to the season, missing field goals in five consecutive games, including two misses in the Packers' playoff loss. Unfortunately, his late-season struggles ultimately cost him his job.

The Packers are expected to sign a new kicker before the start of the 2023 season. Some potential replacements include veteran kickers Mason Crosby and Matt Prater.
