St Mirren boss Stephen Robinson insists his side can get a positive result against Rangers after January overhaul

Robinson hoping for January signings to inspire Buddies against Premiership leaders

Stephen Robinson has overseen a major overhaul of his St Mirren squad during the January transfer window, and he is hoping that his new signings can inspire the Buddies to a positive result against Rangers on Saturday.

The Paisley club have brought in eight new players this month, including former Rangers midfielder Greg Docherty, and Robinson is confident that they can make a difference to his team.

"We've had a really good window," Robinson said. "We've brought in some really good players who I think can make a difference to us. We've added some experience, some quality, and some energy to the squad, and I'm really excited to see what they can do."

Robinson is under no illusions about the size of the task facing his team against Rangers, who are the runaway leaders of the Scottish Premiership.

"Rangers are a top team," Robinson said. "They're the best team in the country, and they're going to be very difficult to beat.

"But we're going into the game with a positive mindset. We know it's going to be a tough game, but we believe in ourselves and we believe that we can get a result."

St Mirren have not beaten Rangers in their last 10 meetings, but Robinson is hoping that his new-look team can end that run on Saturday.

"We're going to go into the game with a game plan and we're going to try and execute it as best we can," Robinson said. "We know it's going to be a tough game, but we're confident that we can get a result."

Kick-off at Ibrox Stadium on Saturday is at 3pm.
