Turning point for Tiger

Sydney Roosters young gun Sam Walker could be on the verge of a shock move to the Wests Tigers, with the two clubs reportedly in talks over a swap deal involving Luke Brooks.

Walker, 20, has been touted as a future Origin star and is seen as the long-term successor to Cooper Cronk in the NSW Blues No.7 jumper.

However, the Roosters have a number of quality halves on their books, including James Tedesco, Luke Keary and Lachlan Lam, and Walker has struggled to break into the starting side on a regular basis.

England's next NRL half?

Wests Tigers coach Michael Maguire is desperate to add some experience to his halves following the departure of Brooks, and he believes Walker could be the answer.

Walker has played just 23 NRL games but has shown glimpses of his enormous potential.

He was named the Dally M Rookie of the Year in 2021 and was also selected in the NRL Indigenous All Stars team.

Stars with most to gain and lose

If the swap deal between the Roosters and Tigers goes ahead, it could have a significant impact on the careers of both Walker and Brooks.

Walker would get the chance to play regular first-grade football and could quickly establish himself as one of the best halves in the competition.

Brooks, on the other hand, would have to prove himself all over again at a new club.
