Women's Volleyball Outlasts CSUN in Five Sets

Northridge, Calif.

The CSUN Women's Volleyball team fell to UC Santa Barbara in a thrilling five-set match on Thursday night inside The Matadome (25-19, 22-25, 25-22, 20-25, 15-10).

Despite the loss, the Matadors (9-11, 5-6 Big West) showed great resilience and determination throughout the match.

Individual Performances

Junior outside hitter Aeryn Owens led the Matadors with a career-high 24 kills, followed by sophomore setter Nicole Nevarez with 12 kills and 46 assists.

For the Gauchos (11-9, 7-4 Big West), middle blocker Deni Wilson led the way with 18 kills, while outside hitter Macall Peed had 17 kills.

Set-by-Set Recap

The Matadors controlled the first set from start to finish, jumping out to an early lead and never looking back.

CSUN continued to play well in the second set, but a late surge by the Gauchos forced a third set.

The third set was a back-and-forth affair, with neither team able to gain a significant advantage.

The Matadors fought off a set point in the fourth set, but the Gauchos eventually tied the match at 2-2.

The fifth set was all UCSB, as the Gauchos jumped out to an early lead and never looked back.
