2 Serious RTCs on A14, Bury St Edmunds
Emergency services were called to two separate serious road traffic collisions on the A14 near Bury St Edmunds last night.
The first incident happened at around 8pm on the eastbound carriageway between junction 45 (Bury St Edmunds) and junction 46 (Woolpit).
A silver Vauxhall Corsa and a white Volkswagen Golf were involved in a collision. The driver of the Corsa, a man in his 20s, was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge with serious injuries.
The driver of the Golf, a woman in her 50s, was taken to West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds with minor injuries.
The second incident happened at around 9pm on the westbound carriageway between junction 44 (Rougham) and junction 43 (Barton Mills).
A white Ford Transit van and a black BMW 3 Series were involved in a collision. The driver of the van, a man in his 40s, was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the BMW, a woman in her 30s, was taken to West Suffolk Hospital with minor injuries.
The A14 was closed in both directions for several hours while emergency services dealt with the incidents.
The road has now reopened but there are still some delays in the area. Suffolk Constabulary is appealing for witnesses to either of these incidents to get in touch.
