Hollywood star takes on London Marathon to raise funds for cancer research

Colin Farrell has embarked on a 26.2-mile (42.2-kilometer) marathon in London to raise funds for a cancer research facility that is treating his close friend.
Farrell announced his plans to run the marathon in support of the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, a specialist cancer treatment center in London, in March 2023.
The Irish actor revealed that his friend was receiving treatment at the Royal Marsden and that he wanted to do something to help.
Farrell has been training for the marathon for several months and has been sharing his progress on social media.
He has also been using his platform to raise awareness of the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and the importance of cancer research.
The marathon will take place on Sunday, April 23, 2023. Farrell is expected to complete the course in around four hours.
He is hoping to raise at least £1 million (US$1.3 million) for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

Farrell's friend, Shane Byrne, was diagnosed with cancer in 2022.
Byrne is a former professional boxer who represented Ireland at the 2008 Olympic Games.
He is currently receiving treatment at the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
