SV Waldhof Mannheim - SV Wehen Wiesbaden: Last-minute draw thanks to Boyd
3. Liga SV Waldhof Mannheim fought back to earn a 2-2 draw against league leaders SV Wehen Wiesbaden in an entertaining clash on Monday.
The hosts took the lead early in the second half through Gerrit Gohlke, but Wiesbaden hit back with two goals in quick succession from Benedict Hollerbach and Johannes Wurtz. When it looked as though the visitors would take all three points, Joseph Boy scmaored an equalizer in the 90th minute to share the spoils.The result leaves Wiesbaden four points clear at the top of the table, while Waldhof remain in eighth position.
Waldhof made the brighter start and could have taken the lead in the 10th minute when Dominik Martinovic found himself through on goal, but his shot was well saved by Wiesbaden goalkeeper Tim Boss.
The visitors gradually grew into the game and had their own chances to score, with Wurtz and Hollerbach both going close.
The second half started at a frantic pace, with both sides creating a number of chances. Waldhof took the lead in the 50th minute when Gohlke headed home a corner from Martinovic.
Wiesbaden responded well to going behind and equalized just three minutes through Hollerbach. The visitors then took the lead for the first time in the 58th minute when Wurtz finished off a fine move.
Waldhof pushed for an equalizer and were rewarded in the 90th minute when Boyd headed home a cross from Jan-Hendrik Marx.
The draw extends Wiesbaden’s unbeaten run to five games, while Waldhof have now drawn their last three.
